About Tim

Tim has had a stellar career spanning 3 decades as a pop/rock/country session musician, writing, recording and performing both with two of his own bands as well as some of Australia's best-loved and most successful artists.

He began his piano studies at the age of 4 and achieved Trinity LTCL at 17. A fulltime career performing in rock, pop and country ensued.

His songs, and the groups he has performed in, have found their way into the APRA and ARIA awards – among the most prestigious gongs available in Australasian music. His own group, The Mockers (NZ), had two Gold and one Platinum album. He co-wrote the song 'Forever Tuesday Morning' which made APRA's all-time Top 100 New Zealand songs and, with Kevin Bennett's The Flood, picked up the CMAA Golden Guitar for 'Best Group' at Tamworth in 2006 and an ARIA nomination for 'Best Blues/Roots Album' in the same year.

On the road and in the studio the collaborations for Tim have been many, varied and rewarding: Wendy Matthews, Goanna, Slim Dusty, Troy Cassar-Daley, Jenny Morris, Mental as Anything, Lee Kernaghan, Gina Jeffreys, Shane Nicholson and Dave Dobbyn as well as Irish superstar Mary Black are some who have called on his services.

Tim counts being invited to play piano on the title track of Slim Dusty's iconic 100th album 'Looking Forward, Looking Back' as one of his "most treasured moments".

Tim has also worked in the world of musical theatre both as a player and musical director, won international awards for his documentary music scores and has written and produced many jingles, including the long-running current station jingle package and News Theme on Sydney's 2GB radio.

Tim also spent 20 years from 1996-2016 as a member (most of these as musical director) of singer-songwriter Graeme Connors' band and is also a proficient piano accordion player.

For over 15 years Tim has extended his interest to music education. He has extensive experience teaching privately, in music schools and in government schools. With a wealth of live performance experience, composition and theoretical musical knowledge to draw on, he thoroughly enjoys sharing the joy of mastering music performance, theory and musicianship with young and old alike.
